Ropeway to Rohtang, himachal

We couldn’t even get over the excitement of the Atal Rohtang Tunnel, another great news from Himachal has hit us! India’s highest ropeway to Rohtang pass is underway and will be ready by 2024.

A 9-km long ropeway between Kothi near Manali and Rohtang has been sanctioned in Himachal Pradesh and the construction of it will begin in November 2020. The construction of the ropeway for which a budget of INR 540 crore has been approved will take place in three phases.

The first phase from Kothi to Gulaba will be a 3-km stretch that will be completed in two years. Stretches of 3-km each from Gulaba to Marhi and Marhi to Rohtang will be finished in the next two phases.

With the construction of the ropeway,  visitors will be able to reach from Kothi to Rohtang in just 21 minutes where it currently takes around 2 hours to reach. The project will also make Rohtang accessible throughout the year, as for now, the high altitude mountain pass closes during the winter season due to heavy snowfall.
